Remembering Jan Theadore Supal

Jan Theadore Supal was an important part of the Steamboat tennis community and a former president of the Steamboat Tennis Association. Her leadership, energy, and commitment helped shape the association and create opportunities that continue to benefit young people in the Steamboat community.

Jan gave generously of her time and talents to the STA. She was not simply involved, she was a driving force who worked to move the organization forward and make tennis more welcoming, organized, and enjoyable for young players and their families.

For Jan, tennis was about much more than learning how to play the game. She understood the role that youth sports can play in developing confidence, perseverance, discipline, sportsmanship, responsibility, and other skills that carry well beyond the tennis court. Her vision helped establish a culture in which young people could grow not only as athletes, but as individuals.

Those who knew Jan remember her passion for life, her generosity with her time, and her genuine desire to see the Steamboat tennis community thrive. She brought enthusiasm and purpose to the things she cared about and was willing to put in the work to make a difference.

Much of what exists within the Steamboat tennis community today carries a piece of Jan’s vision and dedication. The programs she helped develop, the young players she supported, and the countless hours she devoted to the STA are part of the lasting contribution she made to the community.

Jan’s influence extends through the players, families, coaches, volunteers, and community members who continue to be part of Steamboat tennis. Her commitment helped create opportunities for generations of young people to discover the game and, through it, learn lessons that extend far beyond the court.

The Steamboat Tennis Association is grateful for Jan’s leadership, her service, and the lasting foundation she helped build. Her dedication remains an important part of the STA’s history and a meaningful part of the community she worked so hard to strengthen.

Jan Theadore Supal’s legacy lives on through the people, programs, and love of tennis that she helped cultivate in Steamboat.
